In the time that I stopped blogging I got a job and worked there for about a month and a half then quit. I quit because I was only working about 10 hours a week, folding clothes. Yeah, not fun, especially when I have a million and one things going on with school. So, last weekend I was telling my parents how I wanted to quit, but how I liked having that extra money every week. My dad offered to give me the money I was making (not very much at all) if I really committed to school and spent more time studying. Well, he gave me the check and asked me if I looked at it. I said yeah (without really looking at it) and forgot about it. The check was in an envelope, and I went to cash it today at the bank and almost burst into tears. It was written from my Grandma’s estate money from when she passed away. The memo on it said “From Grandma for education.” My grandma always wanted me to do well in school, and loved hearing about how I was doing, what I was interested in, etcetera. I know if she was alive today, and if I needed the money she would have gave it to me. So it was a nice thing to see, even if it did shock me.

I wish I could tell you I was kidding and not excited about seeing New Kids on the Block in October. But, I’m psyched about it. I mean come on, seeing a bunch of now middle aged men dancing and singing on stage? No way I’m going to pass that up. Plus their new song is kind of catchy.
I only worked for four hours today where part of my internship is. Let me tell you, hauling branches, pulling weeds, and sweeping those weeds and leaves up is NOT fun in 89 degree weather, in the middle of the day. Not to mention it’s been raining a lot so it was that type of heat that makes everything muggy and makes your clothes stick to you. Ick. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be in the 90′s, luckily we only work 8 – 3 instead of 8 – 5.
I suppose I should update this thing, over two weeks is a long time not to blog!
What’s been going on in my life lately? I started my internship / working last week. I’d have to say, in typical unexpected, Jenn fashion I actually love the whole working outside doing manual labor bit. I’ve done some things I never thought I would, for example, rototilling. Who would have seen that one coming? Of course I didn’t walk away from that one completely uninjured, I’ve had a large bruise on my thigh for the past week. Yesterday I helped several others clean out a snapping turtle’s cage (or holding cell, that seems more appropriate). They clean it out once a year. I don’t know if any of you have ever had smaller turtles, fish, whatever in an aquarium, but they get DIRTY. I scrubbed off about 15 rocks, all covered with a quarter inch of green slime. I know deep in my heart it was probably snapping turtle crap (literally) and its uneaten food, but whatever. I’m also working 20+ hours in a lab doing work on blood samples from birds. That’s interesting, but would I ever want that as a job? No way.
Other things: I went to NYC with my mom and Tom on a bus trip. It was pretty great and Tom took a lot of good pictures. I wasn’t in the photo snapping mood for once in my life so he took over. I’d have to say I’m impressed. Also, we’ve been talking a lot about moving out. I figure, we’re going to be together for 4 years in January, almost 22 years old (another 2 months!), and it’s time. It’s just so tough because I’m not actually working.
