Other than Mexican food, which I could eat everyday of the week, I also really, really love greek food. We have a local Greek Festival that’s going on and Tom & I go every year to get Gyro’s, greek donuts, and baklava. There are a ton of places around us that sell Gyro’s all the time and surprisingly the best ones (out of the 10+ places I’ve had them from locally) come from a gas station.
I really don’t have much to post about during the summer months because not much is going on. Its kind of strange to think of not going back to school at the end of August. I know the next step in life is to get a ‘real’ job, but it’s so terrifying to think of that. I have no idea how to even begin looking for jobs, what about if I can’t find anything around me? How do I go about applying for jobs in other states? It’s just so much stress to think of moving up in life. I’m one of those people that want to know and have everything planned out. I scout out bathrooms as soon as I enter a restaurant so I know where to go, I google what to except when going through airport security, I am not a go with the flow type of person.
Projects and finals have completely taken over my life. For the past two and a half weeks I have done nothing except work on stuff and attempt to study. In 26 hours though I’ll finally be done for the first part of this semester! I plan on doing absolutely nothing over Thanksgiving break except for shopping a little bit and maybe attempting to get some cleaning done.
Starbucks has a drink, Salted Hot Chocolate, it actually sounds really good. The bad part? It’s over 500 calories for a medium (or a venti in Starbucks lingo). That’s just so many calories, for a drink! I am thinking I may cave in though and get one, maybe once I finish up with finals tomorrow.
What are some foods in your area that you think are unique or that your state / city makes really well? Probably one of the biggest things that we have around here is white pizza. Basically there isn’t any red sauce on it but instead olive oil and other spices make up the “sauce”. I know there are a few more things, but my mind is going completely blank. I looked up one of those “You know you’re from so and so area if…” and this is one of the answers I got for my area: Words like: sub, chipped chopped ham, pop and halushki actually mean something to you.” I never even thought those things were something regional, but who knows!
My newest thing though? Gyros. Seriously, those things are GOOD. It’s really kind of funny that I even like them because I’m not the biggest fan of any type of meat. As I digress, I’m not a vegetarian by any means, but I’m really not a big fan of meat. I don’t eat steak, pork chops, or sasuage. I’m really picky about my chicken, turkey, and ham. But, gyro’s are usually made out of lamb, and I eat that? Makes no sense. Also the sauce is made out of greek yogurt and cucumbers. I absolutely hate cucumbers and I’m also not too keen on yogurt. But apparently those things together are amazing to my taste buds.
Tom and I are going on vacation soon, and I have nothing together. I still need to find shoes and some other miscellaneous things as well as make reservations for activities for us to do. I hate getting ready to go on vacation. If I ever won the lottery I would pay someone to pre-shop for vacation, pack, and make all the travel arrangements.
