I think that Tom and I have decided on a nice gray color for the paint in the new bedroom. We went to Home Depot and looked at a few color swatches, now I just have to shop around to see where I can get the best price at. We still need to make another Ikea run to get a few things and I’ve been looking on Craiglist for any furniture treasures, but so far nothing.
For a completely unrelated story: Yesterday my mom and I were at my cousin’s house when these two women knocked on the door looking for an address that was on her street. Today, my mom told me that the lady that lived next door to us when we were growing up (~10 years) died, and they were receiving people at the same address the two women were looking for the day before at my cousins. It was just so weird that they picked my cousin’s house to ask for directions, while we were there, and it was because they were looking to pay their respects to our old neighbor.
Things are actually progressing along with moving up to “the house” as I’ve been trying to call it lately instead of “my Grandparents house”. Mainly because once we officially move in, I don’t want to catch myself saying I need to go to my grandparents house, I want to say I’m going home. We’re moving in officially the end of April when I’m on a break between my classes and Tom will be on vacation. We went to the house Tuesday to do a little bit of cleaning, moved some things off the wall, and installed a new doorknob with a lock on it. We also have tentative plans to paint, as long as we can find something that isn’t too expensive. We also made an Ikea run on Sunday and picked up a basic table that we’ll both use for our laptops. But let’s be honest, I’m known to lay in bed on my laptop so who knows how much I’ll use a table.
Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve last blogged. Honestly, nothing has been too interesting in my life lately even worth mentioning. The biggest news is Tom and I will probably be moving in together (finally) at the end of April. Seeing how things go okay when we do a little test drive next week. I think I mentioned it before, but we’re moving in to my grandparents house. Since they both have passed away, and my one uncle who was living there is getting married, that means that my other Uncle will be up at the house all alone. Originally, my dad was looking for a duplex for my Uncle and for Tom and I, but things didn’t go so well with that. My Uncle really shouldn’t be by himself, he’s kind of older, is a little bit slow, and basically just needs someone to make sure things go okay. He would probably be fine in a small apartment, but my Grandparents house is a 2,200+ square foot house and yeah, not ideal for him. It really shouldn’t be that bad living with him, especially with a house that size. Tom and I would have the master bedroom which has its own bathroom and everything. Plus, we’d only be paying for some of the utilities which is a lot cheaper than if we would get an apartment.
It’s really starting to wear me down with us not living together. I mean, we’ve been together for over four years, and we still don’t live together. I stay over there every weekend, which is nice because we get to be with each other, but it’s tiring. I hate having to pack all my stuff up Friday night, bring it all back to my house Saturday morning when he goes to work, pack it back up and take it over there Saturday night, and then bring it back home Sunday. Also, little things really bother me like having to get dressed to go pee (sorry Barb if you’re reading this, TMI) in the middle of the night. Even though his mom is cool with me staying over there and stuff, it just doesn’t feel like home. I don’t have any of my makeup there, my cats aren’t there, I don’t have any clothes there, I have to take my school work over there. It’s really just gotten to be a huge inconvenience. I know that living with my Uncle isn’t ideal for either one of us, but at least we would be together.
