Anyone that knows me in real life or has me added on facebook knows how obsessed I am with my dogs. It might be a little crazy, but I honestly think that 90% of my conversations and life revolve around them.

I’ve always wanted dogs, but my parents never let me, we were strictly cat people. When Tom and I moved out of our parents house last April the first thing we did was get a dog. No, really, we were only living in our own place for a week before we went to the shelter and got Kratos (formerly known as Dumbledore). We were in a puppy class at the shelter that they required new owners attend, it just so happened that Kratos’s brother was in the class with us (the shelter liked to put their shelter puppies through the class so they would be better behaved when adopted). Well, he was there one week then gone the next, we were happy that he got adopted because he was the last one out of the litter and was there all by himself. The following week though, he was back again. The trainer told us that someone had adopted him and then brought him back because he was too hyper. They weren’t even four months old, what did people expect? With a few calls and a little bit of convincing, we became the proud owners of Helios (formerly known as Hedwig).

We got a lot of, concern from people when we decided to take on two puppies. I can honestly say that overall, we were pretty lucky. They were both incredibly lovable and were potty trained instantly. Having two puppies really wasn’t that much difficult than having one. The only issue we had was chewing, especially Helios. At the suggestion of our trainer, we decided to crate train them, which they took to immediately. We decided at the beginning of this week that we were sick of the cages. They still chew on stuff, but we decided to just take that risk and always keep them out of their cages. So far, they have been absolutely amazing and haven’t destroyed anything.

We did have a scare last night when Tom was going out on the front porch to smoke and Helios somehow darted past us and ran out into the street. We live on an incredibly quiet street so luckily there were no cars, but it was still scary because he could have just completely taken off. Luckily he stopped at the neighbors house and ran back into our side-yard / driveway. I don’t know what I would’ve done if we would have lost him.

I have a good excuse for not updating in the past month. I’ve been working on my last project ever for school. I finished it up last Monday and now I am proud to say I officially have my Bachelor’s degree in Biology!!! Now it’s time to move on and attempt to find a job somewhat related to my field. I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to find something, I think because I’m realistic. I know that 99% of the jobs I apply to I probably won’t even get a call back let alone the chance to interview. I also know that I may not be able to stay in my current [economically depressed] city, even though I really don’t want to leave my family. People keep asking me what I’m going to do with my degree and honestly, even as I’m looking at jobs I still don’t know. My goal is to just find a job, any job that mildly requires having a degree to get. Down the road, that’s when I’ll worry about what I want to do. I just really don’t believe in today’s economy I have the luxury of being able to turn down jobs just because it isn’t my dream job.

In other news, I’m a little sad about using the “college” tag for possibly the last time, as well as seeing everyone updating facebook about getting ready to go back to school. I need a new tag to use, Life After College, maybe?

I’m a horrible dog owner and often times just let the dogs out to run in our backyard instead of taking them for a walk. It’s too difficult for just me to walk both of them by myself and we have a pretty big backyard that they can run full speed all over. Yesterday I let them out and they kept nosing around this one area by the “garden”, nothing is actually growing there except for weeds because the dogs would just destroy it. So today I let them out and they immediately went to the same spot again, I went over to look and I saw a pile of leaves / grass actually moving. I freaked out for a second thinking it was a snake, not that I’m particularly afraid of snakes but I just didn’t feel like dealing with one in my backyard. So I get the dogs away from the garden and I see something start to crawl out from under the grass, it was a baby bunny! I managed to get the dogs in and upon further inspection I noticed that the mother actually built a nest (covered by her fur, grass and leaves) and there seems to be several baby bunnies in it!

I did a quick Google search and found out that its common for rabbits to build their nests right in the open and that its okay to look at them (they aren’t like birds that if disturbed the mother won’t come back). So for right now I’m just going to keep an eye on them. I know for sure there’s a mother rabbit that as of the other night was perfectly fine and there is no need for me to intervene. Another cool fact is that the mother rabbit only comes back to the nest at dawn and dusk only nursing for a few minutes at a time. I might try to keep an eye out for her tonight to see what she does.

In other news, this means I’m going to have to actually start walking the dogs.

Other than Mexican food, which I could eat everyday of the week, I also really, really love greek food. We have a local Greek Festival that’s going on and Tom & I go every year to get Gyro’s, greek donuts, and baklava. There are a ton of places around us that sell Gyro’s all the time and surprisingly the best ones (out of the 10+ places I’ve had them from locally) come from a gas station.

I really don’t have much to post about during the summer months because not much is going on. Its kind of strange to think of not going back to school at the end of August. I know the next step in life is to get a ‘real’ job, but it’s so terrifying to think of that. I have no idea how to even begin looking for jobs, what about if I can’t find anything around me? How do I go about applying for jobs in other states? It’s just so much stress to think of moving up in life. I’m one of those people that want to know and have everything planned out. I scout out bathrooms as soon as I enter a restaurant so I know where to go, I google what to except when going through airport security, I am not a go with the flow type of person.

I also made some deep friend ravioli with panko bread crumbs which was also pretty good. The chocolate chip cookie dough truffles also turned out good, although they were a little messy to make (and eat)! Tonight, I’m going to make Drip Beef (the first way) and I’m really hoping it turns out okay. When it comes to cooking, I’m more of a chicken person not really a beef cooking person. The recipe seems easy enough, so I’m thinking it will turn out okay.

It’s not that I’m a bad cook or can’t cook, its more of a I’m a lazy cook and I hate being rushed when I get off work to have dinner ready. I thought tonight I would try to make Pepperoni Pizza Puffs. Anything that has cheese and pepperoni in it, I’m game for. If I get ambitious I also might try to make Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles.

I’d like to make an actual layout, but I have absolutely zero inspiration right now so I’ll just stick with this premade one for now. Its a little dark for my taste, but I really can’t find anything else I like.

One of the places I looked at going (other than to the Dominican Republic) was to Costa Rica. I looked up a few costa rica vacation rentals but ultimately decided against it only because we wanted something that had an all inclusive drink and food package. If finances would allow it in the future, I would definitely consider costa rica real estate, and the first step would be researching. I think the first step in looking (after obtaining the money to do so) would be to look at costa rica land for sale. It would be fantastic to have a place that you could jet off to

I really, really do not have a green thumb, at all. I can kill even the easiest plants to keep alive (marigolds) so this has been quite an adventure.

I will say that so far, my basil plant hasn’t died and is actually doing quite well. I also have a jalapeno plant, thyme, and cilantro planted with it. I have no idea if all of that stuff is okay together, but so far so good. I’ve been looking online for a good natural way to remove pests, as something seems to be nibbling on my jalapeno plant. I can’t tell if its little bugs on it or if the rabbit / other critters in our backyard are coming up to it at night.
